Fevre Dream
Nowadays GRRM is synonymous with his A Song of Ice and Fire series. Years before he became a household name he published some wonderful novels and short stories. Fevre Dream is the best of them. An extremely well written vampire novel with well thought out details about how the vampires live and how some of them work hard to integrate peacefully into human society. Good and bad vamps fight it out but none of them well coiffed and sparkle uselessly in the sun.
